QUESTIONS ABOUT GARAGE DOORS?
How do I realign my safety sensors?
This is our most common question we get regularly. With sensors you have a receiver eye and a transmitter eye, they each will have an L.E.D light which should be lit up solid. Spider webs, dust, leaves may cause blockage. Cleaning the lenses and making sure sensors are lined up will resolve this issue 99.9% of the time.
Why won’t my garage door close?
I see a blinking light coming from the sensors at the base of the garage door frame?
The first thing to inspect would be your photo eyes. Photo eyes are a required safety feature designed to stop and reverse the garage door if something is obstructing the flow of the garage door from closing. Photo eyes face each other and are located at the bottom of the garage door opening 6 inches off the ground. With sensors you have a receiver eye and a transmitter eye, they each have an L.E.D light which should be lit up solid. If a light is out, most likely you have a bad photo eye. However, if both lights are blinking, your photo eyes may be misaligned. To remedy this yourself, move the photo eye around until you get a solid L.E.D light. If the photo eyes are not misaligned make sure there is nothing obstructing the beam from communicating with the photo eye on the opposite side of the garage. This is a safety feature for the garage door and they can be very sensitive. Our technicians have seen trash cans, sports equipment, tools and even spider webs be the root cause of the misalignment.
Why does my garage door open slowly and feel heavy?
Several factors could lead to this problem. You may have an unbalanced heavy garage door that is putting too much stress on your garage door opener. You may need to have the garage door balanced and the tension reset on the springs, or the springs themselves may need to be replaced. The opener may need lubrication. Also, depending on the manufacturer, garage door openers vary in speed.
Why is my garage door making loud noises?
Most often it is due to lack of lubrication or hardware like the garage door rollers, hinges and springs could be worn out. Garage Doors require maintenance and should be inspected.
I want to change the look of my garage door, but it doesn’t need to be replaced, is this possible?
Depending on the manufacturer and the make and model of your garage door, it is possible to replace existing panels to include windows and decorative hardware. We represent all major manufactures including Amarr, CHI, Clopay, Martin, Unique, First United, Carriage House, Ranch House, Wayne Dalton, Janus and Overhead Door. Other options include hiring a painting contractor to change the color of your garage door.
